CELEBRATIONS have been taking place to mark the Chinese New Year.

The Fareham and Gosport Multicultural Society held an event on Saturday at St John the Evangelist Church Hall in Fareham to mark the year of the goat.

The event was held to encourage people in the community to understand more about the Chinese culture.

There were arts and crafts events, face painting and food tasting.

Zenny Valentine is the chair of the society.

She said: ‘It’s awareness that the Chinese community can offer to the community in Fareham and Gosport.

‘It went very well. People did enjoy it.

‘We had a lot of families there. We also had some elderly people there.

‘It was very nice and I am really happy with the result.’
