A FUNDRAISING ball is being held for a charity helped by the family of a fallen Royal Marine.

Jenny and Robin Hollington have fundraised for Hounds for Heroes since they lost their son Richard in Afghanistan in 2010.

The charity provides assistance dogs to armed forces and emergency service workers injured in the line of duty and last year Mr and Mrs Hollington raised enough money to name a dog Yomper after their beloved son.

Mrs Hollington from Petersfield, said: ‘We feel honoured to have named Yomper in memory of Richard.

‘It is an amazing testament and one that he would have been very proud of.’

She is leading a committee of volunteers in organising the ball on HMS Warrior on June 15 which will raise money towards the purchase and training of assistance dogs.

‘We’re looking forward to a wonderful evening,’ said Mrs Hollington.

‘We hope it will raise the profile of the charity and lots of money for Hounds for Heroes.

‘Local support has been wonderful, so thank you to everyone who has offered to help so far.’

Any businesses or individuals wishing to donate a tombola prize or sponsor an element of the ball can contact Mrs Hollington through the Hounds for Heroes office.
