NOMINATIONS are being invited for a district’s sixth annual sports awards.

The Winchester District Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAA) is asking local sports clubs, community organisations and residents to name the best of the district’s sporting talent.

The awards aim to recognise the commitment and excellence of coaches, volunteers, sportsmen and sportswomen across the district, which includes Denmead, Bishop’s Waltham and Whiteley.

Nominations will be considered in junior and adult categories for sportsman and woman, disabled sportsperson, male and female volunteer, and team of the year.

There are also awards for school team, coach, official, service to sport and club of the year.

Stuart Barlow, chairman of the SPAA, said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the inspiration and commitment that exists within our athletes and clubs.’

The closing date for entries is October 14. Nomination forms can be downloaded from winchester.gov.uk.
