Christine Bleakley among stars on Magic radio as it launches in Portsmouth

TELEVISION stars Christine Bleakley and John Barrowman are turning to radio for a new station to be broadcast in Portsmouth.

Claire Sweeney and 80s pop stars Rick Astley will also join the team of Magic which will launch as a digital station in Portsmouth for the first time from today.

The station will play feel-good tunes from the likes of Queen, Michael Buble, Take That and Abba.

A spokesman for Magic, said: ‘The music is designed to relax and help brighten your day, combined with award winning presenters and special programmes that feature the best of the 80s and soul and Motown.

‘As your day winds down the Mellow Magic playlist helps to soothe you every evening.’

Miss Bleakley will make her radio debut with a one hour weekly programme interviewing celebrities.

And Claire Sweeney will bring her love of musical theatre to the airwaves with a special musicals show.
