STANDING tall, an engineer takes a look at rain damage to the top of a cathedral.

An assessment of Portsmouth Cathedral’s cupola, in Old Portsmouth, was undertaken by Stone Technical.

Church administrator Peter Sanders said: ‘We have had some serious leakage problems as a result of the severe weather.

‘We had an external assessment of the tower and cupola, to see what the damage is like.

‘We need to see if it requires attention, and it does.’

The findings will be presented to the Fabric Advisory Committee.

This is a national body that oversees maintenance work.
