DADS and their families enjoyed an extra special treat - a close look at this stunning boat.

Collective Spirit was made in Emsworth from pieces of wood donated by the public and every piece holds a special meaning.

An extra date on the vessel’s country-wide tour was added so families could enjoy her at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, in Gosport.

Liddy Davidson, the project co-ordinator, said: ‘People were queuing up before we’d even opened the doors. There’s always such excitement around her.

‘I was asked earlier to sign a copy of the accompanying book which had been bought as a present for Father’s Day.

‘We’ve had lots of dads here with their families. Collective Spirit is such a stupendous draw.’

The boat is touring the country and will be in Portsmouth on June 23.

Tomorrow children from Southbourne Community College will be joined by primary schools in the area to view the boat.

Members of the public can view it at the school from 4pm.
