A COMMODORE from the Royal Navy raised hundreds of pounds for charity by running the Great South Run.

Commodore Mike Mansergh CBE Royal Navy, Commander Operational Training currently based at HMS Collingwood, raised around £700 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

Cdre Mansergh was joined by thousands of runners who braved the elements to compete in the annual event.

He said: ‘It was a wonderful experience to join so many enthusiastic people running the 10 miles for charity.

‘I was delighted to be running for the Royal Navy and Royal Marine Charity. Despite the blustery weather, I managed to make it across the finish line in one piece.’

He completed the run in 1hr 18mins.
