A GROUP of children enjoyed a day out to remember thanks to donations from the community.

Around 30 children from Buckland were taken to Paultons Family Theme Park for the day after kind-hearted residents and local businesses chipped in to pay the cost.

Buckland resident Audrey Arnell organised the trip for children from families who cannot afford to treat them.

She said: ‘These kids don’t get a chance to go to places like this. A trip like this gives them the opportunity to enjoy themselves.

‘They’ve got memories for the rest of their lives.

‘The only reward I ask for is to see these kids happy.’

Audrey thanked everyone who contributed: Sainsbury’s in Commercial Road; Co-op in Lakeside; Kevin Taylor, from the fire service in Somers Town; Cllr Ken Ferrett; Lord Mayor Cllr Frank Jonas and Lucketts coach hire.

Now Audrey wants to organise a trip for senior citizens, and she is calling on the local community to help out.
