STUDENTS stepped into the shoes of their dream jobs when they took over the running of a hotel.

Young people from South Downs College took on key roles like general manager and head chef at the Langstone Hotel on Hayling – and the guests didn’t even notice.

The students staffed two weddings, a large conference, a birthday party, and prepared and served nearly 1,500 covers and cleaned 455 rooms over an extremely busy weekend.

An awards ceremony was held to honour the hard work of the students.

General manager Clint Marsh said: ‘The hotel was really busy but the guests didn’t even spot the difference.

‘Well done to all of the students who took part. They really were fantastic and have shown that they are ready for working in the industry.’

Saskia Markham-Anderson was awarded the ‘student of the weekend’ prize.

She said: ‘I enjoyed every second of the experience. It has reaffirmed my ambition to work in the hospitality industry.’
