YOUNGSTERS spent the day making creative displays out of willow at a family workshop.
Families were invited to use natural materials and transform them into pieces of art at the Gosport Discovery Centre, in High Street.
Their first task at the event, which took place yesterday, was to make willow wands before moving on to bigger constructions.
Learning co-ordinator Gaynor Wood, from the Discovery Centre, said: ‘It went really well.
‘It’s part of a thing called Family Learning Around Gosport, which is an initiative designed to promote families learning together.
‘It was a real success. We had dads and grandads all turning up to help out with the children’s work so that was nice and just what we wanted.
‘It got a bit competitive, as you can imagine, and one of them made a shark out of willow while another made a yacht.’
