A VELODROME closed after a fatal accident will not reopen until recommendations from a council report have been carried out.

The Mountbatten Centre has responded to cyclists who have been unable to use the track since policeman Richard Phillips-Schofield died after a racing accident in March.

Parkwood Community Leisure general manager Danny Churcher said he was aware of recommendations about the track in a report made by Portsmouth City Council’s environmental health officer.

He said: ‘We are keen to avoid any undue delays but are not in a position to reopen the track until the EHO recommendations have been met.’
