CYCLISTS all over Hampshire are preparing to descend on a pub for one of the area’s biggest charity cycle challenges.

The date has been set for this year’s Denmead Bike Ride which takes in the countryside around Waterlooville.

July 17 will see more than 500 people go on either 10, 20 or 30-mile rides to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Salvation Army.

The bike ride is now in its 11th year and is organised by a committee from the village.

It is hosted by the Harvest Home pub and there will be food, music and entertainment for all those taking part.

Christine Hicks, from the pub, said: ‘It’s hard work for us but brilliant fun. There’s a wonderful atmosphere. People come back year after year.’

Pick up an application form from the pub or call (023) 9225 5086.
