THIRTY cyclists were due to leave Portsmouth this morning to make their way up to the start of a 300-mile challenge.

The York2Pompey cyclists will begin their ride at York City FC’s Bootham Crescent Stadium tomorrow. The team hope, by the time they arrive at Fratton Park on Saturday, to have raised £32,000 for eight charities.

Ahead of the ride, the cyclists and support team were invited to Pompey’s training ground to meet players Paul Robinson, Danny Hollands and James Dunne.

Ride organiser Tom Dearie said the players had been fantastic in their support. To donate, visit bigpompeyride.co.uk.
