Gosport animator Daisy Jacobs has missed out on an Oscar.

She was at the Hollywood ceremony early today after her film The Bigger Picture was nominated in the Animated Short Film category.

But the award went to Disney animation Feast. The film depicts a relationship between a puppy named Winston and the young man who feeds him and was played before showings of the new Disney film Big Hero 6.

Winners Patrick Osborne, who directed, and producer Kristina Reed, have also been involved in Disney films Big Hero 6, Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph.

The ceremony comes weeks after Daisy won Best Short Animation at the Baftas for her film which tells a dark, humorous tale of caring for an elderly relative.

The animation uses life-sized paintings and a technique she learned while at the National Film and Television School, which has won her other accolades.
