PEOPLE struggling with debt problems are being offered support.

Staff at the Citizens Advice Bureau said they had over a third more people coming to them with debt problems last Christmas compared to the previous one and that they expect this year to also be busy.

Jon Stuart, from East Hampshire and Havant Citizens Advice Bureaux, said: ‘Many people, including those who have never experienced money worries before, find that at Christmas their finances become increasingly tight.

‘Affording Christmas alongside rises in day-to-day spending like keeping their home warm, getting to work and putting food on the table can send people over the edge. It’s important people don’t wait for debts to mount before they seek help.’
