SHE’S an old hand at it now but Daring Doris Long has been officially recognised as the oldest woman to perform an abseil by the Guinness Book of Records.

The 97-year-old received her fifth record-setting certificate from Meridian TV presenter Fred Dinenage, who did an abseil with her last year.

It was presented at The Rowans Hospice, Purbrook, which Doris fundraises for.

She said: ‘It was great to see Fred again – he even gave me a few kisses. I was given a tour around the hospice and discovered how nice it is there. I’m so glad I support them.’

Doris will be abseiling again on May 19 down Millgate House, Portsea for The Rowans the day after her 98th birthday. To join her call (023) 9225 0001.
