PETERSFIELD is set to get its food festival back this year.

Organisers of the Festival of Food and Drink promised after last year’s event was moved to Queen Elizabeth Country Park to look at bringing the festival back into the town.

At the time, the Love Lane football stadium, home of Petersfield Town FC, was suggested as a possible venue.

However, after listening to public feedback and the views of traders wanting to attend the festival, they realised the only realistic home for it was the town centre.

Organiser Michael Wait is looking forward to bringing the event back to its previous home.

He said: ‘We are delighted to be bringing the food festival back to the heart of Petersfield for 2014.

‘After listening to all the feedback we had from the public and stallholders after last year’s event, it was made clear to us that people want to see this event take place on the streets of the town centre.

‘I understand this event has not always been popular with a small number of shopkeepers in the town but I will be doing everything I can to iron out any problems and issues and I will be encouraging all retailers to get involved in this year’s festival.’

The 2014 Petersfield Post Festival of Food and Drink will take place on June 14 and 15 and, as well as using The Square and High Street, there are plans to extend stalls into Lavant Street and Chapel Street.
