AN employee at gas distribution company SGN is celebrating after she won the unsung hero award at the company’s awards.

Ellen Bates, who lives in Havant and works in
Portsmouth, is a quality and performance advisor at the firm.

She was recognised for her exceptional performance and dedication to the job at
a ceremony in Glasgow.

The 29-year-old said she was flattered to be nominated in the first place, let alone to have won the award.

She said: ‘It was a total shock to find out that I had won the award – I think the expression on my face said it all!

‘It’s great that the company runs this type of scheme because it makes you feel as though what you do is appreciated.’
