A FORMER Samaritan has written and published a book with all the proceeds going towards charity.

Colin Wilkinson wrote the book about his ancestors and has paid for all books to be published in the hope of raising money for the Samaritans.

The 76-year-old from Titchfield, now retired, was a volunteer Samaritan for 25 years, giving confidential emotional support for people in distress over the phone.

He said: ‘The whole object is to raise money for those fantastic people. There are volunteers who put their own personal problems aside and help others. They’re fantastic.’

Mr Wilkinson will be signing copies of his book ‘Rosetta’ at Waterstones in Fareham Shopping Centre from 11am until 1pm today.
