THE Bishop of Portsmouth is set to visit St George’s Church, Waterlooville for an upcoming service.

The Rt Rev Christopher Foster will be confirming 13 parishioners, including
a husband and wife, on Sunday.

St George’s Church is part of the Havant Deanery, which includes 26 churches.

What makes this service special is that the Bishop only attends each Deanery twice a year.

He last visited St George’s three years ago.

Chris Gadd, 46, of Waterlooville, is a member of St George’s Church congregation.

He said: ‘This is a rare visit to our parish so it will be a wonderful occasion.’

According to Chris, the Rev Mike Sheffield, St George’s Church parish priest, like everyone else at the church, is excited that the Bishop has decided to come to them.

He added: ‘It’s quite a coup.’

Members of the congregation will be able to meet the Bishop over tea
and coffee after the confirmation.
