A great-grandmother has thanked her friends and family for gathering to celebrate her 105th birthday.

Eva Batten who lives at Hamilton House Care Home in Drayton Lane, Drayton marked her birthday with a get-together with other residents and their families, as reported in The News yesterday.

One of those families also marking a special day was the Ewin family, after donating garden furniture to the care home in memory of their mum and dad.

The family lost their dad Brian last year. He was a resident at Hamilton House for two years where his wife Deirdre visited him every day.

Daughter Suzanne Shuttleworth, from Cosham, said: ‘Dad used to love sitting in the garden so we thought we would donate the furniture in our parents’ memory.’

n We have been asked to clarify that in yesterday’s News the photo of Mrs Batten also included the Ewin family.
