A CHRISTMAS grotto has opened in Fareham to raise money for the Girl Guides.

Mayor of Fareham Councillor Dennis Steadman and Mayoress Carole Steadman joined Toffee the Bear to open the grotto at Fareham Shopping Centre.

Children will be able to meet Father Christmas and tell him their wish, and the Girl Guides will be helping out dressed as elves.

County Commissioner for Girlguiding Hampshire East, Anne Munro, said: ‘The grotto is a great opportunity for us to get involved in a community project and raise vital funding.

‘A tremendous £4,500 was raised last year which supported our young people to take part in numerous activities.’

Entrance to the grotto costs £5.50. Check opening times at farehamshopping.com.
