FOND memories came flooding back as vintage car lovers got a glimpse of days past in Fareham.

Classic motors were on show in the shopping precinct in West Street on Saturday as part of an event organised by the South Hampshire Vehicle Preservation Society (SHVPS).

It is the eighth year the event has taken place in Fareham and scores of people stopped to have their photographs taken with their favourite vintage cars.

Alan Gladwell, from the SHVPS, said: ‘Our members thoroughly enjoy chatting and reminiscing with both the young and old about their cars.

‘There’s always enormous interest from the people of Fareham.

‘We were very pleased to be returning for another event this year.’

There were around 60 cars in the precinct, many of which belonged to members of local groups.

Some of the groups who turned up included the SHVPS, the Morris Marina Owners Club, the Morris Minor Owners Club and the Portsmouth and Southampton Mini Owners Club.

Hundreds of people stopped by on their way to the shops to speak with the cars’ owners.

Meanwhile, in the performance podium, members of Now That’s Jive set the scene by dancing to music from the 1940s and 1950s.
