BEAUTIFUL Julie Miah has been selected as one of 15 girls from across Europe to compete for the international title of Vatika Miss Asiana 2014.
The 22-year-old from Fareham was picked by Asian magazine Asiana to compete in the international beauty pageant.
The winner will land a modelling contract valued at £100,000 with the magazine and its associated brands.
This year the pageant aims to highlight that dark is beautiful, following the recent Twitter backlash that Miss America winner Nina Duvuluri faced for being too dark-skinned to be a title holder.
The event, which is taking place in London on Saturday, has a star-studded judging panel which includes Miss Liverpool 2010 winner and actress Amy Jackson and British Asian actor Upen Patel.
Julie, a student, said: ‘I’d like to be a role model for young Asian girls who aspire to be a model to have confidence in their exotic beauty that they’ve been blessed with and have the courage to pursue their dreams.’
Rajesh Nair, corporate director at Asiana TV, said: ‘Through this venture, we aim to create a connection between global beauty and fashion brands seeking high calibre and talented South Asian models.’
