A HORSE had to be rescued by firefighters after it got stuck in a cesspit.
The drama began at 12.30pm on Sunday when a member of the public noticed the horse in distress on land just off Emsworth Common, near Aldsworth.
A vet was called and they sedated the animal while firefighters cut the top of the cesspit off and pumped it out. The horse was removed using specialist lifting equipment.
The operation took two hours and the horse was taken to stables to recover.
