FIREFIGHTERS will be driving home the road safety message.

Officers from across the county will support the Chief Fire Officers Association‘s (CFOA) National Road Safety Day tomorrow.

They will pass on some road safety messages including ‘only a fool breaks the two second rule’.

Clyde Evans, of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s road safety team, said: ‘Dealing with road traffic collisions has become an all-too-frequent aspect of a firefighter’s role. Many could be avoided. By raising awareness through these messages we hope to make lives safer and prevent needless casualties.’

A Cosham crew will be at Tesco superstore, North Harbour from 10am to 4pm.

The Gosport team will be at Gosport Ferry Terminal with the road traffic collision display trailer from 10am to 4pm.

And a crew from Havant will be at Tesco, in Solent Road, from 11am to 2pm.

Around 25 per cent of call-outs are to traffic accidents.
