IT MAY have been muddy underfoot but the skies stayed clear for an annual firework display.
The display took over Stockheath Common, in Leigh Park, Havant, last night.
Sarah Flamson, economic development officer at Havant Borough Council, said: ‘We have it here every 5th of November, no matter what the day.
‘The bonfire is lit by the mayor and then the fireworks start. We have about 8,000 people attend each year.
‘It is a real benefit to the community as it’s a safe place to enjoy some fireworks.’
Mayor of Havant Cllr Paul Buckley said: ‘It’s a big, free event so it’s a super event for all the family.’
Joanne Barnett, from Waterlooville, was enjoying the event with her daughters, Hollie, seven, and Paige, 12.
Mrs Barnett, 40, said: ‘It is amazing. It is brilliant.’
Helen Connolly, 41, was with daughter Courtney Clark, seven. She said: ‘My daughter couldn’t wait to see the fireworks. She’s really having fun.’
