FIVE-A-SIDE football teams will battle it out on Saturday to raise money for the NSPCC.

Now in its 15th year, the competition is being arranged by Fareham fundraiser Brian Dunlop and will take place at St Vincent Sports College in Gosport.

The tournament kicks off at 10am and an awards ceremony will take place at Hill Park Memorial Working Men’s Club in Highlands Road, Fareham at 7.30pm.

Entrance for the evening event is £4 and there will be a late-night disco.

Brian said: ‘Most of us do not need charities and hopefully never will, but you have to put yourself in the shoes of a child who goes to bed miserable and that keeps me motivated to continue fund-raising.’

More than £1,000 of prizes, including a flat screen TV, are on offer through a raffle.

Auction prizes that have been donated include signed Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur football shirts, a family pass to all of next year’s Wickham Festival and children’s parties at Soccer City.

Brian added: ‘It’s going to be a good day for all involved and once again it has taken a lot of time and effort to organise.’
