A VINTAGE racing car has sold for a record-breaking £1.57m at auction in Goodwood.

The classic 1936 Lagonda LG45R ‘EPE 97’ Rapide sports racing two-seater was sold at Bonhams’ Goodwood Revival Sale, which in total netted £15.4m in vintage car sales.

Bonhams motoring director James Knight said: ‘What a weekend – beautiful weather, fantastic cars, and hours of exciting bidding.’
