SOUTHSEA residents are gearing up for a four-day Jubilee extravaganza in Palmerston Road.

The events, running from tomorrow to Tuesday, include fairground rides, a hairdresser giving Princess Margaret-style haircuts, and face painting.

Tomorrow, there will be singing and performances from dance troupes Streetforce DC and JoJo’s Street Dance.

Traders have pitched in to boost the event, with Debenhams giving over a wall to be used for street art.

Organiser Claire Hoskins said: ‘We did think that because of the financial times it wouldn’t be very well received, but it was the total opposite.’

The celebrations take place between 11am and 4pm on all four days.

n We are sorry that an article in The News yesterday wrongly said that the events began today.
