A FAMILY business is giving customers a free slice of a super-sized Swiss roll to celebrate tonight’s huge lottery jackpot.
Staff at Heidi’s Swiss Patisserie, in Palmerston Road, Southsea, are wishing their customers luck in the giant £90m EuroMillions draw, which has rolled five times and would be the second largest win ever.
The shop’s normal-sized Swiss roll is usually only six inches, but the giant 60inch sponge, jam and cream cake will be served up to customers.
Heidi Elliott, 47, from Hayling Island, runs the firm which started 42 years ago by her Swiss father in Havant, and now has nine shops.
She said: ‘The EuroMillions jackpot is massive this week so we thought it would be fun to celebrate this by creating an extra large treat for our customers. Our bakers have never created a Swiss roll of this size before and we hope that it won’t be the only treat our customers receive this weekend!’
A Lottery spokesman said: ‘We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a UK winner and think it is great that Heidi is drawing on her European heritage to champion the Pompey cause – if the jackpot is won in the UK, the winner would not only be able to change their own life but also the lives of their friends and family around them.’
