HUNDREDS of people packed out a community centre and helped it celebrate its first six months.

The open day was held at Portchester Community Centre on Sunday and saw a fun-packed day for all the family.

The hall was alive with music as jive dancers took to the stage. Home-made cakes were being served from the kitchen, while a barbecue sizzled outside.

Kids were entertained by a bouncy castle and face painting, and a group gathered enthusiastically around a wrestling demonstration from Kapow Wrestling.

Lucy Redfern, community manager at the centre, which opened in January, said: ‘We were pleased to see so many support us. We hope this will be the first open day of many.’
