AN open day at a farm will teach visitors about modern farming.

Northney Farm on Hayling Island is preparing to hold its annual Open Farm Sunday event on June 7.

The event usually attracts around 1,000 people and aims to educate visitors about issues faced by farmers.

It is a chance for attendees to discover why it is important to buy local products that directly support farmers.

The event is held as part of the national Open Farm Sunday initiative.

Visitors may be aware of the Northney Farm ice cream that can be found around Portsmouth, Havant, and Hayling, and the event will have some flavours to try.

The open day takes place from 11am until 4pm and entry is free.
