IT’S a community event that attracts more than 10,000 people each year.
Now more visitors than ever are being urged to go along to the May Fayre which is held on the grounds of St Mary’s Church, in Fratton, Portsmouth.
The all-day event, which has been running for more than 20 years, will begin at 10am on Monday.
There will be a real ale tent manned by volunteers, made up mainly of the Campaign for Real Ale’s Portsmouth and south-east Hampshire branch.
Other attractions include a bouncy castle, pony rides, bands, funfair rides and there will be performances from local dancers.
There will also be more than 100 stalls selling bric-a-brac.
Money will go towards the upkeep of the church and charities.
Last year £16,000 was raised towards maintenance of the building.
An extra £300 was generated for local churches which pitched stalls.
To book a stall or a display space contact the church on (023) 9282 2990.
Father Bob White, vicar of the church, said: ‘I’m really excited about it.
‘We’ve been planning this year’s event since last June.’
