FORMER children’s television star Floella Benjamin presented a hardworking woman with a top award.

Lorraine Davis, from Waterlooville, is one of only 100 people this year to receive Girlguiding UK’s top accolade, the coveted Queen’s Guide Award. The award sees participants take the lead in a number areas including developing a personal skill, working within community action projects, and overseeing ambitious outdoor pursuits.

Lorraine, 25, who is a leader at 3rd Clanfield Brownies and whose Queen’s Guide achievements included a trip to South East Asia, said: ‘Completing my Queen’s Guide Award has given me the opportunity to see the world.’

The award is open to 16 to 25-year-olds.
