MORE than 90 people helped release 120 balloons in honour of Girls’ Brigade’s 120th year.

The balloon launch, organised by the brigade groups in the Portsmouth area, took place at Portchester Castle on Sunday, September 15, following a service at St Mary’s Church there.

Commissioner Helen Patis, who oversees 10 groups in Portsmouth, Fareham, Havant, Waterlooville and Emsworth, said: ‘It was great to be joined by so many members, their families and leaders. The brigade is very active in the community and it’s good to be able to share our anniversary celebrations so widely.’

The launch was originally scheduled for January but was postponed because of snow.
