BY DAY Lewis Phillips is an engineer but by night the 30-year-old is a troubadour whose talent has earned him a place in the regional finals of a talent contest.

Lewis, of Admiralty Quarter, Portsea, has made it to the Live and Unsigned UK finals at Bar Highlight, Gunwharf, on April 22.

In the meantime, Lewis is set to record an album in Amsterdam with his musical heroes Ken Stringfellow and B J Cole, who have worked with The Posies, Pink Floyd and REM.

He said: ‘I can’t tell you how excited I am to record with them. After a week in Amsterdam we fly to Ken’s home studio in Paris to mix the album.’
