YOUNGSTERS celebrated the life of a much-loved children’s author by recreating his stories.
The Gosport Discovery Centre has been celebrating the week of Roald Dahl’s birthday.
Families and schoolchildren were invited to hear his famous stories, dress up as the Big Friendly Giant and meet small creatures like the ones James encountered in James and the Giant Peach.
James Elliott, from Gosport, was there on Saturday making his own board like the one belonging to Mr Twit in Roald Dahl’s classic book, The Twits.
On the same day more than 25 other youngsters came to hear Discovery Centre staff read them Roald Dahl stories.
They also made their own crocodiles, like the ones from The Enormous Crocodile.
Arty youngsters were given a chance to learn how to draw like Quentin Blake, the illustrator of the books.
Storyteller Roald Dahl, who died in 1990 at the age of 74, was born on September 13.
