MORE than 160 vehicles entered the Gosporteers’ 57th annual car rally for a chance to win the coveted Roy Edge Trophy.

Named after the group’s late treasurer who ran the event for many years, his widow picked the vehicle she decided was best in show.

Brian Russell, part of the organising committee, said: ‘Cindy picked a motorbike which was made up of all different parts, which was quite unusual, to win the trophy.

‘We had a lot of people come along again, and it was a good day. We had all the usual vintage cars as well as the wrestlers from the Solent Wrestling Federation and the Gosport Silver Brass Band. It all went down well.’

Earlier in the day, the vehicles took a tour from Stokes Bay to the Gosport Ferry, Brockhurst and Lee-on-the-Solent, before returning to the field at Stokes Bay.
