A GOVERNMENT health minister has agreed to help open a new Men’s Shed building.

Health Minister Alistair Burt MP has agreed to visit the new Havant Men’s Shed building at Langstone Technology Park, which is due to open in July.

The Havant Shed, now in its third year of operation, is concerned with a range of community projects, catering for about 30 members with a full management committee, bank account and website.

The Men’s Shed movement provides communal facilities for men to congregate in friendly company to encourage active participation and stave off boredom and loneliness.

Havant’s MP Alan Mak said: ‘I’m a strong supporter of Havant Men’s Shed and
similar sheds across the constituency.

‘I’m delighted to speak up for Havant Men’s Shed in parliament and pleased Alistair Burt is backing us.’
