AFTER winning Colour Technician Of The Year for two years running, Kate Eaton was determined to prove that she has more than just a flair for colour.
The 22-year-old worked hard to ensure she stood out in the Hair Styling Specialist Of The Year category.
Kate, of Amberley Road, Hilsea, said: ‘The last two years I have won in the colour category.
‘I wanted to do something different as I felt that I had reached as far as I could with colour, so I am really pleased to see my commitment and hard work pay off.’
Kate has worked for the past six-and-a-half years at the Andrew Price Salon in Northern Parade, Hilsea.
She started out as a Saturday girl and worked her way up, receiving recognition for her talent for colouring and styling, and she is now a senior stylist at the salon.
She said: ‘After gaining initial success with The News’ Hair and Beauty Awards Colour Technician Of The Year award, my desire to be even more creative and innovative with hair became stronger.
‘The Hair And Beauty Awards have inspired me so much in my work and I am amazed at how well this has helped me in my career. But I’m not ready to give up yet!’
Kate is part-time at the salon as she started working as a hairdressing lecturer at Highbury College last December. She said she was proud to be passing on her knowledge to ‘hair and beauty candidates of the future’.
Kate said: ‘In the world of hairdressing you never stop learning.’
