A HAIRDRESSER has been announced as the winner of a national talent spotting competition.
Stylist Billy Fry from Portsmouth, was crowned winner of ghd’s first national talent-spotting initiative, called spotlight.
Billy, from Strands Hairdressing in Whiteley, won a place on the ghd art team.
He was selected as one of the five finalists from 1,200 entries. Billy secured his place on the team by an online competition which saw him receive an incredible 1,374 votes on Facebook.
Billy said: ‘I’m overwhelmed by the amount of people that voted for me and I’d like to thank everyone for their support. I’m so proud to bring this accolade to Hampshire and I can’t wait to get started.’
Jo Robertson, head of UK for GHD, said: ‘I’m delighted to have Billy as part of the team. It shows that pushing yourself and having clear goals at a young age works.’
The 21-year-old’s first ghd art assignment will be appearing on stage at global hairdressing event Salon International in London in October.
