A GRIEVING mum has spoken of her ‘pain and anguish’ after her son was found dead at the foot of cliffs.

Katrina Waller has appealed to anyone who spoke to her son in the days before his death to come forward.

Joe Waller, 25, of Cranford Road, Petersfield, was found dead below cliffs in Sussex on December 29.

Katrina said: ‘Sadly he chose to end his life by jumping off Beachy Head.

‘His death brings much pain and anguish and we are trying to piece together his last days.

‘If anyone spoke to Joe over Christmas or has any information please contact me.’

Joe had suffered for years with undiagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome, and as a pupil at Herne Junior School and The Petersfield School he struggled with this.

Katrina added: ‘The younger a person is diagnosed, the better the chance of a full and happy life.

‘In his teens Joe’s problems became more pronounced and unfortunately he tried cannabis, which interferes with the development of a young mind, one already in confusion.’

The condition was finally diagnosed three years ago.

Katrina added: ‘It was a daily struggle for him but he lived independently.’

Anyone with information can email katrinawaller@btconnect.com. The funeral will be held at East Meon Sustainability Centre at 10.30am next Wednesday.
