VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help make sure the Olympic flame passes smoothly through Fareham town centre.

Fareham Borough Council wants volunteer stewards for Sunday, July 15, who will have a number of potential duties, including providing general help, assistance and directions to the public and assisting to co-ordinate the parade.

Councillor Connie Hockley, who is in charge of leisure matters, said: ‘The torch relay is a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle.

‘I really hope that lots of local residents will volunteer and help make this event a great success.’

Anyone interested can email or speak to a member of the leisure and community team on (01329) 236100 by June 29.
