THE Queen will be attending a Diamond Jubilee party in Emsworth – in the form of a cardboard cut-out.
More than 130 people will be gathering in Bath Road for a patriotic street party, with morris dancers and clog dancers.
As Her Majesty is the guest of honour, residents will be putting up a life-size cut-out of her.
Organisers hope the party will be even bigger and better than last year’s celebration for the Royal wedding.
The party, on June 5 from 12.30pm to 4pm, is for residents of Bath Road, Creek End and Watersedge Gardens.
Organiser Lorraine Clode said: ‘It’s a great excuse to have a fantastic party.
‘We have got the life-size cut-out of the Queen – it’s great.
‘The bunting will be out and we have booked good weather.
‘We will be providing the champagne and everybody else is bringing the food.’
A few of the party-goers are planning to wear tiaras on the day.
Mrs Clode said there was great admiration for the Queen in Emsworth.
‘I think Queen and country means a great deal to people in Emsworth,’ she said.
‘There are a lot of retired ex-military living locally.
‘We have just celebrated St George’s Day big-time.
‘I would think more than most areas, Emsworth is fiercely patriotic.’
