FAREHAM Alderman Mike Godrich has died aged 85 with his family by his side.

Mr Godrich represented Locks Heath on Fareham Borough Council for 19 years, including time on numerous committees and working with many local organisations and also as mayor in 1995/96, before stepping down in 2010.

Councillor Sean Woodward, leader of the council, said: ‘I worked with Mike for many years as a friend and colleague.

‘He devoted much of his time to the community as a councillor for Locks Heath and as mayor of Fareham, which was the reason I was honoured to propose that he be made an honorary alderman in June 2010.

‘He will be deeply missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife alderman Mrs Ruth Godrich and his family.’
