A HOUSEBUILDING firm is using its latest development as a drop off point for a Christmas shoebox appeal.

David Wilson Homes wants people to take shoeboxes full of goodies to its Hambleside homes development in Whiteley, near Fareham, so they can then be sent to poor families in Eastern Europe.

The Family Shoebox Appeal, run by Link Romania, is in its 21st year. People have until November 16 to give gifts so they can be sent in time for Christmas.

Lisa Hector, general manager for Link Romania, said: ‘Each year thousands of people all over the UK make up shoeboxes of gifts for poor families in Eastern Europe, and last Christmas we sent out 42,000 shoeboxes.

‘We want to collect more than 45,000 boxes this year and we’re so pleased that David Wilson Homes are supporting the appeal to help us reach our target.

‘I’ve seen how a few simple gifts in a shoebox can make such a difference.’

Paul Crispin, managing director for David Wilson Homes southern branch, said: ‘We are very happy to be able to show our support to such a worthy charity this Christmas.’
