SUPER SWIMMER Anna Wardley will take a quick dip – crossing 12 miles of water just for practice.
The 37-year-old is swimming the 12.5-mile distance between Cowes and The Needles at the Isle of Wight, today at about 12.30pm.
It is in preparation for her swim around the island later this year as part of her Five Island Swim Challenge.
The training swim is less than a quarter of the 60-mile non-stop journey she will make in September.
She said: ‘It’s so exciting to be back training in the Solent for my swim round the Isle of Wight after my successful 41-mile swim around Jersey.
‘This is the first of a series of training swims I will be completing over the next couple of months.’
Anna is due to finish her training swim at around 5pm today.
It comes after the inspirational athlete swam an incredible 41 miles around Jersey in under 12 hours on June 23, all to raise money for charity.
That was the third in a five-part charity challenge.
She hopes to raise £50,000 for charity.
She has a 30-mile swim around the Isle of Tiree in Scotland in August to complete ahead of the swim around the Isle of Wight in September.
So far Anna has raised £40,000 for the Samaritans, Sail Africa and the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust with her swimming.
She is being supported by Navitus Bay.
