GROWERS in the area are being offered the chance to sell their produce.

Founders of the Southsea Greenhouse – a newly created cooperative on the seafront, next to South Parade Pier – are urging green-fingered locals to bring their home-grown fruit, vegetables and plants to the beach hut where volunteers will sell them on.

Growers can exchange their produce for other items in the shop, produced by fellow gardeners in the area.

The store also offers locally made crafts and members of the public do not have to join the cooperative in order to buy from the hut.

Southsea Greenhouse has been set up and is being run by volunteers who also offer a veg box delivery service, filled with a selection of Hampshire vegetables, which they hope will soon be replaced with Portsmouth produce.

One of the founders, Sue Stoke, said: ‘The whole idea is that we are a local and ethical seller and that supports the community.’ Anyone interested should call Sue on 07530 913 211.
