LEGEND Linvoy Primus cut the ribbon to open a revamped community centre.

The Pompey favourite helped members of the Havelock Community Centre, in Fawcett Road, Southsea, celebrate their first day on Tuesday after a £350,000 refurbishment.

An additional room added on to the building has created space for a new children’s centre run by Sure Start to open.

It is the first centre in the area to operate the two facilities under the one roof.

Jenny Bennett, Havelock Community Centre’s secretary, said: ‘It’s working very well having the two services together because it means we are reaching a larger audience before.

‘And it’s benefiting the children as the generations are beginning to cross.

‘More people are getting involved with things at both the centres now which is really nice to see.’
